Ross Island

Ross Island of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is spread over an area of 0.6 square kilometers and is approachable through ship from Port Blair to Phoenix Bay jetty from where one has to take a short boat journey to the main island. It was titled as the "Paris of the East". It is thickly covered by a wide range of fauna and flora. Most of the ancient buildings and monuments have been destroyed by the 1941 earthquake that rocked the island and brought everything on a stand still at this picturesque locale. This island had been the administrative headquarters of Britishers at some point of time.Now a days, Ross Island at Andaman and Nicobar Islands are under the supervision of the Navy. At Ross Island, one must check out the golden days of the island at the small museum of the Indian Navy named "Smritika".

Viper Island

Situated near Port Blair is well known for its Cellular Jail. Viper Island is best known for the prison that was used before the notorious cellular prison was constructed in 1906. It’s around 8 kilometers North West of Port Blair and one can access the island by boat or ferry. There are two pretty convincing stories as to the origin of the name of the island. The island can be reached in 20 minutes via the Phoenix Bay jetty. Some cruise services also offer tours on a boat around the island showing tourists different parts of the island and the prison from the boat.Some of the greatest personalities linked to the Indian Freedom struggle have spent their last days here at Viper jail.Tourists’ today flock to the island to get a glimpse of the ruins of this jail and for a moment feel like a part of history. Apart from this, Viper Island is also a wonderful picnic place.

Barren Island

It is 135 kmaway from Port Blair and is the only active volcano in India, towering some 300 meters above the sea level has erupted sporadically over the last 70,000 years.

 

 

Havelock Island

It is about 38 km from Port Blair and is an ideal place to enjoy the nature at its best.This island is one of the most important tourism destinations of the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar. Covering an area of 100 sq. km, it lies on the northeast of Port Blair, 54 km by road and 33.5 km by sea. It is one of the few islands that is inhabited, offering a mesmerizing scenic beauty with white sand beaches, coral reefs with a colourful array of aquatic life, palm trees, as well as dense forests.The two famous beaches here are Radha Nagar Beach and Elephant Beach also called HathiDera.

Jolly Bouy

An ideal place for snorkeling, sea bathing & experiencing breath taking underwater view of coral and marine life. It located inside the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park.

Red Skin Island

This is another spectacular island in Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park that offers a fine beach with view of corals & marine life.

Chatham Island

Here lies one of the biggest & oldest Saw Mill of Asia. The Haddo Harbour is also nearby.

 

 

 

Baratang Island

It is located about 90 km from Port Blair, where one can see the Mud Volcano, which is about 4 km away from the boat jetty. The Limestone Caves are located about 50 km by sea away from Baratang boat jetty.

Neil Island

One of the most beautiful & splendor island with breath taking view of sea with lush green scenery is ideal for nature lovers. This magnificent island offers a plenty of marine life and is an ideal destination for eco-tourism. This island is also known as the Vegetable Bowl of Andamanand is famous for carrying out activities like fishing, angling & snorkeling.
